Q: Can I use other whitening gels with the Pearl device?
A: No. The enamel safe Ionic Whitening gel is specially formulated to work with the ionic technology in the unique Pearl mouth-tray. The formula includes safe and effective ingredients that remove stains to deliver whiter teeth, while helping to eliminate bacteria that can cause bad breath, leaving your mouth fresh and clean.
Q: How long will it take for my teeth to become their whitest?
A: Results will vary by individual. In a clinical study, the majority of participants experienced up to 7 shades whitening in 5 days. Some teeth will whiten dramatically in just a few treatments, while others can take more time. The more yellow versus gray color you have in your teeth, the better the whitening. Grey enamel is more difficult to whiten and can take more treatments to achieve a result.
Q: How long will the whitening results last?
A: Individual results will vary based on your age, natural color of teeth, and your consumption habits of red wine, tea, coffee, smoking and use of some medications.
Q: I noticed small white spots on the surface of my gums immediately after using the Pearl. Is this normal and will it go away?
A: It’s nothing to worry about. Some users may find the gel irritating against the surface of their gums. Ensure you insert the mouth tray properly to avoid contact of the gel with your gums. The white spots should go away after a few minutes.
Q: I've just whitened my teeth, can I smoke?
A: For optimal results, it is recommended to avoid eating, drinking and stain causing activities, such as smoking, for 30 minutes after each treatment.
Q: What happens if I swallow gel during the treatment?
A: The shape of the Pearl mouth tray is especially designed to contain the gel around your teeth throughout the treatment. At the end of the treatment it is important to rinse out the remaining gel and saliva from your mouth. The gel contains a small amount of peroxide, which shouldn’t cause any irritation or nausea.
Q: What if I am experiencing sensitivity or discomfort after using the Pearl?
A: In a clinical study, the majority of users did not report any sensitivity. Should you experience any prolonged pain/irritation or sensitivity, discontinue any further Pearl treatments until the symptoms resolve within a few days. You should consult with your dentist if any pain/irritation or sensitivity persists for more than a week and if spontaneous relief doesn’t occur within a few days without any treatment.
Q: Will the Pearl affect my dental work?
A: The Pearl will only whiten natural teeth. This means that all dental work including bonding, veneers, crowns and bridges will not whiten. Pearl will not damage veneers, bonded teeth, or the adhesiveness of bonding materials on teeth.
Q: Is it safe to use while pregnant or breast-feeding?
It is recommended you consult your physician before using the product if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
Q: How old do you have to be to use the Pearl?
A: The Pearl is not recommended for use by persons under the age of 12.
Q: Is the Pearl Device water resistant?
A: The Pearl mouth-tray is water resistant and can be rinsed under water, but you should avoid getting the handle wet and it should never be immersed in water. Clean the mouth-tray with a toothbrush to quickly and thoroughly remove the gel. Do not use your finger to clean the mouth-tray.
Q: What if the indicator light on the Pearl mouth-tray does not turn green?
A: Check that the gel is evenly spread inside the mouth tray so that it is in contact with the inner walls of the tray. If the indicator light still does not turn green, it could be that the gel is too cold. Let the gel sit at room temperature environment for 30 minutes prior to use.
